Monotype printing is a printmaking process where a unique image is created by painting or drawing on a smooth surface, like an acrylic plate, and then pressing it onto paper. Unlike other printmaking methods that yield multiple copies, monotype printing is spontaneous and produces only one-of-a-kind prints.

In this workshop, we will cover the basics of monotype printing, including various methods and techniques, working with color, using the printing press, and understanding the difference between water-based and oil-based inks. We’ll explore how to transfer drawings, paintings, and textures onto paper (both with and without a press) and you’ll also have the opportunity to experiment with paper cutouts, textured materials, and florals to create both positive and negative impressions.

This workshop is designed for all experience levels, where the focus is on creative exploration. Playfulness and experimentation are at the heart of the process, and everyone is encouraged to discover their own unique approach.
